Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 8 January
Query:
For a banking trade publication, we're looking at operational
efficiency, identified as one of the three top investment
priorities/challenges for financial services providers in 2021.
This makes sense in that banks have invested far more in their
customer-facing digital capabilities, and particularly so after
COVID made the customer experience associated with digital
banking so much more an important priority. But the result is an
even wider digital gap between the customer-facing side and the
middle/back office that plays a supporting (but important) role.
We're writing about "operational efficiency" and the pursuit of
that goal in 2021. Historically, "operational efficiency" has
tended to be used as a euphemism for cost-cutting. Questions to
answer:
--Set the scene on this current topic in the industry. What is
going on? What is working, not working? --Do banks share a
common definition of "operational efficiency," and if not, what
are differences in how it is thought about at different
institutions? --Do some still think of it as cost-cutting? If
so, how do they see digital capabilities helping them achieve
that desired efficiency? --How do institutions prioritize what
they do in working toward greater efficiency? --What are the
first moves a bank might undertake in 2021? --Where does scale
fit into the equation -- do larger banks think about the
importance of a digitized middle/back office differently than a
smaller credit union might? --What does digitization mean for
staffing -- not just numbers, but also skill sets? --How much
upskilling/reskilling might be involved? --What are areas ripe
for upskilling/reskilling? --What are common mistakes banks
make in this type of process? --Has your organization embarked
on such a project? How did it go?
Requirements:
Answer the questions with your name, title and location. Banking
and other experts preferred. Info will be checked prior to
publication. Follow-up. interviews may be requested, but good
answers may just be enough to get you into the story.
