I'm writing an article for Cointelegraph about the recently
updated Ethereum roadmap and the launch of Ethereum 2.0. Would
be happy to hear expert thoughts on the current progress and
whether the recent release of Eth 2.0 and an updated roadmap
occurred to be something different for what was expected.
Basically, apart from the delay, there is one big change in the
new roadmap which is the reduction of the number of stages - the
developers have united phases 1.5 and 2 into phase 2. But the
main concern here is that the implementation of the most
important updates like the PoS transition and Eth1/Eth2 merge
are still at their early stages meaning that Ethereum 2.0
recently launched and Ethereum 2.0 everyone expects are two
different things. What do you think about it?
Can you provide some estimations as to when next big updates
such as Eth1/Eth2 merge, the transition to the PoS algorithm,
and the implementation of sharding can be expected?
One more interesting fact is that stakers who staked their ETH
cannot transfer/withdraw them until the next phase. But some
crypto exchanges have already announced they will add support
for wETH (staked ETH). How is it possible now? Is it just
marketing?
Any other thoughts are welcome.
