New regulation set by American Airlines bar any wheelchair
weighing more than 300 pounds from the smaller regional jets. A
motorized wheelchair can start around 230 pounds and go up to
400 pounds. This means many who use heavier models will now be
excluded flying regionally with American Airlines.
