Query:
The roundabouts that are growing in popularity throughout the
United States have been around in one form or another since
Washington, D.C., was designed. Still many U.S. drivers become
flustered and make unsafe moves when they encounter one.
What is a roundabout? Are modern ones (I believe the first was
built in Nevada during the 1990s) different than ones from the
past? How do they differ from traffic circles and rotaries?
What is the easiest/safest way to navigate a roundabout? What
are the greatest safety concerns when driving a roundabout?
Are roundabouts dangerous for pedestrians? Do they lessen
vehicle crashes? Are they cost-effective when compared to
traffic signals?
Requirements:
I'm looking for driving instructors, traffic safety specialists,
engineers, safety specialists and regular folks who have
mastered or have become confused on a roundabout.
Thank you!
