There's a new cosmetic treatment that's emerging as a new
must-have: hyperbaric chambers. These have been co-opted by
South American surgeons to install them in their offices, to
help with post-op recovery. The theory: if you have 1000 times
more oxygen going to the area that needs to be healed, you
should theoretically heal 1000 times faster. He called it "like
a magic eraser" for wounds. Some surgeons are now even
counseling wealthy clients to install them at home - as
rejuvenation chambers. Likely to gain traction, of course, in a
post-COVID world where the emphasis on privacy will be
paramount, and spas are going to be both logistically and
psychologically complex. Compare that with the de facto Botox
rooms some people have installed in their Hamptons summer homes
- a place to have a quick fill and jab in a sterile, comfy
environment before a big weekend of benefits (well, when they
happened). I want to hear from interior designers who have
worked on projects with beauty rooms, especially ones that
include hyperbaric chambers or other expensive, unique
technology; home owners who have installed such elaborate Glam
Squad rooms in their houses and surgeons who have consulted on
installing such equipment at home. I'd also like to hear from
scientists with expertise in the anti-aging field who have
conducted any experiments on the efficacy (or not) of hyperbaric
chambers for this purpose. Please note: I am not looking for
surgeons who have the equipment at their consulting rooms or in
offices, but rather specifically for residential usage.
