2) Summary: The Ultimate Guide to Insurance for Study Abroad

Name: Mary Bast Go Overseas

Media Outlet: Go Overseas

Deadline: 11:00 PM EST - 10 October

Query:

Hi Travel Insurance Experts!

I've been commissioned to write a few articles for the Go
Overseas website. This website is a one-stop shop for all things
studying and working abroad, although it does tend to focus more
on the studying aspect of this field. Go Overseas also has a
plethora of resources, however, for those interested in teaching
English abroad, securing an international internship, taking a
gap year, applying for working visa/working holiday programs, or
volunteering abroad as well.

My article's focus is going to be on the studying abroad aspect
of this all, though, so I'm looking to speak with two types of
experts who can help me with the following:

1) I want to speak to a professional who works or has recently
worked in the travel insurance industry--specifically someone
with experience involving international travel insurance--who is
willing to be interviewed about topics centralized around the
general characteristics of what to know when you're starting out
your search for travel insurance for studying abroad (e.g. types
of plans, any important terminology to be aware of, when to
start looking, any "insider" tips from the industry, scams to be
aware of, changes over the past several years etc.) I'd also
love to include a section highlighting important things to know
during the pandemic about purchasing travel insurance, so if you
have any insight on that, that'd be wonderful to include in our
conversation, too. It'd also be a huge bonus if you've worked
with several types of students--university-age, masters' level,
PHD, even post-doc, if applicable--so I can include information
on specificities students typically encounter if they're a
certain educational status that they wouldn't encounter
otherwise.

2) I'd also like to speak to a higher education professional
currently working in a university study abroad office to see
what types of issues and questions students face when they begin
their search for travel insurance. I'd especially like to talk
about any resources your university has compiled over the years
on this topic, or just resources in general that you direct
students to (both online and offline), when they come to you
with questions about travel insurance. If there's time, I'd also
love to chat with you about what it's like organizing all of
these logistics from your perspective, so students can have
understanding and empathy towards your working responsibilities
and challenges in this process, too.

Thank you so much for your time, and I hope you all have a
wonderful rest of your day! I hope to hear from you soon!

Sincerely, Mary Bast
