31) Summary: How to keep your dog and cat safe during a hurricane, tornado, wild fires, the Covid pandemic

Name: Judy Mandell the ny times

Category: General

Email: query-be75@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: the ny times

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 16 October

Query:

I am proposing an article to the New York Times titled "How to
keep your dog and cat safe during a hurricane, tornado, wild
fires, the Covid pandemic and other catastrophes."

I am looking for pet experts - veterinarians, pet trainers, etc.
I will ask them to e-mail answers to these questions for
starters.

What kind of plan do you need for your pets if there are
emergencies, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, wild fires, the
Covid pandemic, etc?

What if your dog is not trained to come to and with you?

What if your dog is old and can't get around easily?

What if your dog is anxious?

What are things you can do to prepare your pet for an emergency?

What if something happens to you? Who will take of your pet?

What if you have to vacate your home and go to a hotel? Many
hotels don't allow pets.

What if you decide to stay in your home during a hurricane or
tornado? Where should you put the dog?

What if you decide to flee and can't find your pet?

How do you alert firefighters and first responders that there
are animals in the house?

If your pet has a micro-chip, how will responders know?

What about pet insurance? Is that important in this case?

What if your dog flees and you can't find her?

Other thoughts on pet safety.

38) Summary: Over-the-top, Walk-in Closets

Name: Mark Ellwood Financial Times - FT Weekend

Category: General

Email: query-be60@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: Financial Times - FT Weekend

Deadline: 5:00 PM EST - 19 October

Query:

When developer Keith Rubenstein put his townhouse on the Upper
East Side on the market for $79.5m, one detail stood out among
many: his wife's custom purse display unit where she can
simultaneously store and showcase her favorite Birkins & co. It
was a true VIP WIC. But she isn't alone - increasingly, the
closet of a luxury mansion has become a bragging right, or at
least a key amenity, for any smart homeowner.

There are new, over-the-top details that are becoming must-haves
in any new WIC, for example: color-corrected LED lighting that
simulates daylight, or a watch-winder built into the drawers.
Perhaps the standard safe has been replaced with one that
features electromagnetic-proof walls for cryptocurrency storage.
There could be a full bar, too, with wine fridge ice maker, and
all cocktail making fixings, plus an espresso machine right
there, too. Or just a lovely secret door for kids to clamber
inside that leads to tunnels throughout the home.

I'd like to hear about any such OTT VIP WIC. We want to look at
the trends in pimping up or upgrading closets so that even these
areas - which are out of the public eye in a home - must be
sumptuously outfitted today. Mirrors that record how you look
in a certain outfit to check the 360-degree view, perhaps, or an
archive in which people can store a record of when and to what
event an outfit was stored? Are purse displays a new trend,
and if so, what are the features common to them? What other
new assets are designers adding to the 1%'s walk in closets to
make them even more luxurious than before? You get the idea.

I'd like to speak to interior designers, real estate pros and
anyone who can give concrete, specific examples of how closets
are being upgraded. We're looking for lavish, unexpected details
rather than simple finishes or a larger footprint. Please send a
single para pitch with 2 or 3 examples of the specific details
you or your client would like to highlight.

Requirements:

Please mark subject line: VIP WIC No attachments, please - all
emails with attachments will be deleted unopened. Please reply
directly to me here rather than responding via other methods or
channels.
