Bayesian inference and networks have become popular in today's
world of AI, ML and cheap, powerful computing power. This
article will look at some interesting use cases and explain why
this approach is more appropriate than alternatives given a
specific problem and its context.
Requirements:
Looking for data scientists and statisticians with advanced
degrees in math or statistics who have hands on problem solving
experience in house, as a consultant, or both.
Tip: You/your client needs the background I just described to

Query:
I am working on a story for the Marine Electronics Journal
Jan/Feb issue (due to my editor by Nov. 1). It focuses on the
need for more/better technical training for marine electronics
dealers and installers, as indicated in a few recent articles we
ran. I'd like to discuss what training needs exist, what
indicators point to a need for more or better training, as well
as how inadequate training impacts both custom boat
installations and work on the factory floor at production boat
builders (previous articles in Marine Electronics Journal
pointed to both as problems) and what the industry is doing or
can do to improve things.
Some of the questions I hope to explore include: * What kinds
of training to manufacturers offer? Is it sufficient? In other
words, can trained people diagnose and repair based on what they
learn? * Are partnerships between boat manufacturers and
electronic makers delivering appropriate or adequate training to
installers on the factory floor? In other words, is the
partnership delivering working and reliable systems, integrated
within the vessel? * Do you hear concerns expressed about
inadequate training? If so, where (geographically or by sector,
or???)? * How about the technology itself? Is it advancing
more rapidly than technicians can acquire mastery? * Are
specific types of electronics more likely than others to tax a
tech's abilities--radar vs fish finders or plotters vs MFDs or
autopilots vs communications equipment? * Or is the problem
caused by the fact that most onboard electronics these days are
networked and not stand alone? * Autopilots seem to stand out,
anecdotally, as devices with problems that tech's have trouble
solving. Any idea why? Are there any other areas that seem most
"needy"? * QUESTION FOR TRAINERS: Where do techs seem to
stumble or have the most problems? Could this be addressed
through changes in curriculum? * QUESTION FOR
dealers/installers/manufacturers/boat builders: Generally
speaking, what do you make of the apparent need for more
training? * Any other comment related to this topic?
