Name: Nick Morey Dropbox

Category: High Tech

Email: query-bdsp@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: Dropbox

Deadline: 11:00 AM EST - 20 October

Query:

Hi,

Dropbox is looking for companies, thought leaders, employees,
and freelancers from all industries to wax lyrical on the remote
work experience.

Answer as many of the below questions as you like - the more
answers, more likely to be featured, of course. I appreciate
it's a lot though, so feel free to pick and choose.

Some of these can be answered in terms of what your experience
has been or what you're doing already, but
predictions/future-gazing works too if the responder has
particular expertise.

Along with answers, please provide name, position, headshot, and
company URL info for any sources so we can get you featured.

Also feel free to share any other advice or anecdotes you have
around subject of remote working - happy to review ^_^

We're commissioning our own published report/working hub, and
responses collected from you will frame the stats findings of
the research on our pages. So answers will most likely be used
as overlay/box-out quotes etc., with image/name/position/company
of source.

Still in building phase, but would be great to be building
responses to include when planning the layout.

Thanks!

Requirements:

Questions:

- Does the language/style of your job ads for differ remote work
vs in-house positions?

- How has the recruitment process changed since the adoption of
remote work? e.g. timeline, efficiency, or with chemistry being
a key factor in hiring decisions, the impact of remote
interviews, etc.

- Have you focused on building out more internal processes,
plans, template documents etc. since lowdown?

- How much has changed in the onboarding/new starter process?

- What software and hardware investments have you made to
accommodate distributed teams?

- Any investments directly into your distanced team's home
setup, or sending food/packages or online treats in lieu of
regular office food/ents budget?

- What have been the biggest changes in terms of delegation and
management?

- Any changes in morale?

- How have working hours changed? Any 3am email responses?

- What has been the change in number of remote employees at your
business, and how do you see this developing?

Are staff generally doing fewer days in the office, or would
like to?

Do you have a socially distanced rota so people come in on
different days? What's your setup?

Are you considering downsizing your office? Or losing it
entirely?

Will company car schemes be scrapped? Has this happened already?

For video calls:

- What is a desirable video backdrop? Possibly more
interestingly... what is deemed unsuitable for your work? Is
taking calls from bed appropriate?

- Is it good to have bookshelves in the background? What else
may look good - piano, musical instruments? Do you consider your
video call aesthetic in terms of what it says about you? Do you
care?

- Have you been told you must clear certain things out of view?
Any mishaps with something being spotted on screen that you'd
rather not? Feel free to share - (and if there's anything super
embarrassing/salacious and you want to share anonymously (or not
if you're brave) - by all means, go for it!

- Are children to be welcomed popping into calls, is it a seen
but not heard thing, is there a company policy/ frowned
upon...or are they a welcome addition to lighten another call
that could have been an email? Feel free to give honest opinions
and experience here :) - Have calls broken down with clients
or colleagues due to home interruptions... kids' homework,
deliveries, unflushed toilets?
