3) Summary: Overcoming a disconnect with the customer (marketing, advertising, PR, business, etc.)

Name: Daniel Burstein MarketingSherpa

Category: Travel

Email: query-bb4b@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: MarketingSherpa

Deadline: 9:00 AM EST - 29 September

Query:

Has your company ever had a disconnect with the customer? The
company read the customer wrong? Assumed the customer wanted
something they didn't? The prospect's perception gap?

This is why marketing and business is so hard. Businesses make
assumptions about the customer. But sometimes they are wrong.

We're looking for specific examples of how you overcame this
disconnect with the customer. The specific example can be from
any industry and should include: * Before (what the company
thought the customer wanted) * After (how you changed things)
* Results * Advice for other marketers based on your specific
example * Your/your sources' role in the campaign/message

Please include your (and/or your client's) name, title, and
company, so we know how to attribute you in the article if your
example is chosen (if your proposed source works for an agency,
platform or other vendor, we need a quote with advice for
marketers from someone who actually works at the brand/client as
well).

Feel free to include your LinkedIn and Twitter handles for when
we share the article with our audience on social media
(https://twitter.com/marketingsherpa).

Here is a key piece of content we'll be sharing in the article,
to spark your thinking:

6) Summary: New ways to protect your 2021 vacation

Name: Chris Elliott USA Today

Category: Travel

Email: query-bbc7@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: USA Today

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 30 September

Query:

I'm researching a story on things you can do now to prevent a
2021 vacation disaster. I'd love to hear from anyone who has
considered or purchased travel insurance, travel protection, a
medical or security membership, or planned a trip to a "safe"
destination in 2021. What kind of steps have you taken to ensure
your vacation won't get canceled because of COVID? From travel
experts, I'd love to know what new or innovative ways of
protecting your vacation are available for 2021 travelers. What
do you recommend travelers consider before they plan their 2021
trips? What should they not do?

Requirements:

Please read this before answering. I'd be very grateful if you
could send an initial response to my questions by email. Please
do not respond with a note that says you would like to be
considered for this story or want to set up a phone interview
with a source. I'm happy to consider you for this story. I've
included all of my questions in this query. Please take a minute
to briefly answer them. Kindly do not cut-and-paste answers from
previously published materials, such as press releases or blog
posts. If a phone interview is necessary, I will follow up right
away. Be sure to include your full name and a jargon-free, brief
(two to three word) description of your company or affiliation
as you would like it to appear in the article. I will do my
absolute best to acknowledge that I received your pitch and will
make every effort to let you know when the story appears. More
information on my queries can be found on my site:

7) Summary: What travelers have lost during the pandemic

Name: Chris Elliott The Washington Post

Category: Travel

Email: query-bbc9@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: The Washington Post

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 30 September

Query:

I'm researching a story about what travelers have lost during
the pandemic. I'd be interested in hearing from travelers who
have gone somewhere recently and noticed things missing from the
travel experience, beyond the obvious (hotel buffets, passengers
in the middle seats, etc.). What have we lost, as travelers?
Companies that have gone under during the pandemic? Many perks
and amenities that have been removed? What do you miss the most,
and why? From travel experts, I'd love to know what the most
commonly removed items are in travel. What's likely to come
back, and what is gone for good? What's your advice for
travelers who may miss some of these items?

Requirements:
