2) Summary: Predictions and State of the 2020-21 Ski Season

Name: Jamie Hergenrader TripSavvy

Category: Travel

Email: query-b9ye@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: TripSavvy

Deadline: 10:00 AM EST - 22 September

Query:

I'm writing a story about the 2020-21 ski season and how ski
resorts and ski-related businesses are going to operate during
the upcoming season. I've included a few thought-starter
questions, but I'm open to ideas and predictions outside of
these specific topics.

How are ski resorts in the U.S. going to operate this winter
given the concern of safety during the pandemic? What specific
details might be considered or put in place to keep guests safe?
(For instance, closing lodges, limited capacity per chair,
limited operation hours, etc.)

How will local travel restrictions (by city or state) affect how
ski resorts might be able to open and operate?

How will the pandemic affect ski-related businesses (e.g. rental
shops for gear, lodges and hotels in mountain towns, etc.)? For
instance, will more people buy their own ski gear or consider
day trips to avoid lodging?

A major expense on a ski trip is the passes themselves--both
lift tickets and season passes can be expensive. --Given the
unknown, how are resorts modifying the terms of those to
encourage people to buy them and visit? --What should consumers
look for when buying lift tickets this year? --Which season pass
in particular (e.g. Epic, Ikon, Mountain Collective) is the best
option for regular skiers?

In your opinion, what are the top (domestic) ski destinations
this year that travelers should consider for their trip?

What can travelers do on an individual level to enjoy their ski
vacation stress-free and feel safe?

Requirements:

I'm open to responses from travel experts as well as those
knowledgable about skiing and winter sports and familiar with
the US ski destinations.

3) Summary: Examples of clear marketing messages

Name: Daniel Burstein MarketingSherpa

Category: Travel

Email: query-ba0s@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: MarketingSherpa

Deadline: 9:00 AM EST - 22 September

Query:

Clarity trumps persuasion. We're looking for specific examples
where clear messages performed better than hype. Examples can be
from marketing, advertising, public relations, internal
communications, business, nonprofits, etc.

The specific example can be from any industry and should
include: * Before (if applicable) * After (example of how
the customer saw the clear message) * Results * Advice for
other marketers based on your specific example * Your/your
sources' role in the campaign/message

Please include your (and/or your client's) name, title, and
company, so we know how to attribute you in the article if your
example is chosen (if your proposed source works for an agency,
platform or other vendor, we need a quote with advice for
marketers from someone who actually works at the brand/client as
well).

Feel free to include your LinkedIn and Twitter handles for when
we share the article with our audience on social media
(https://twitter.com/marketingsherpa).

Here is a key piece of content we'll be sharing in the article,
to spark your thinking:

6) Summary: When will it be safe to plan a vacation?

Name: Chris Elliott USA Today

Category: Travel

Email: query-bab5@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: USA Today

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 23 September

Query:

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who is thinking of
planning a trip soon. A lot of travelers thought that the
pandemic would be over by now. But it looks like we're about to
see another surge in cases. When will you feel safe planning a
trip? And by "trip" I mean a major vacation involving a flight
and a stay at a hotel, and possibly a cruise. Are you waiting
for a vaccine? Or for the number of COVID cases to fall? From
experts on health and safety, I'm interested in getting your
perspective. When should people consider planning a vacation? Do
you have a checklist, and if so, what's on it? Will it ever be
completely safe to book a vacation again?

Requirements:

Please read this before answering. I'd be very grateful if you
could send an initial response to my questions by email. Please
do not respond with a note that says you would like to be
considered for this story or want to set up a phone interview
with a source. I'm happy to consider you for this story. I've
included all of my questions in this query. Please take a minute
to briefly answer them. Kindly do not cut-and-paste answers from
previously published materials, such as press releases or blog
posts. If a phone interview is necessary, I will follow up right
away. Be sure to include your full name and a jargon-free, brief
(two to three word) description of your company or affiliation
as you would like it to appear in the article. I will do my
absolute best to acknowledge that I received your pitch and will
make every effort to let you know when the story appears. More
information on my queries can be found on my site:

7) Summary: How safe is an RV roadtrip this fall?

Name: Sally French NerdWallet

Category: Travel

Email: query-baby@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: NerdWallet

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 22 September

Query:

I'm looking for health experts to weigh in on the safety of
taking an RV road trip.

Some specific questions (please answer any/all): 1. Is it fair
to say an RV road trip is safer than hotels/Airbnbs? Why (or why
not)?

2. Depending on your RV, you might not have your own bathroom.
What should RV travelers know about using shared campground
facilities? Are shared toilets/showers safe? If not, would you
recommend always upgrading to an RV with a personal bathroom?

3. If renting an RV, should travelers take steps to disinfect
it? If so, how? Or should travelers not need to worry about
fomites?

4. What should first time RV-travelers know, that they wouldn't
necessarily expect?

Requirements:

You're either a health professional (please leave your
credentials) or an experienced RV traveler. You also should
expect to be available for follow-up questions.
