I'm researching a story about new or lesser-known ways to avoid
travel fees. I'm particularly interested in ways to avoid
airline fees, hotel and resort fees, car rental fees and
vacation rental fees. I'd love to hear from travelers who have
successfully avoided fees such as luggage fees, resort fees,
charges for unwanted insurance, or cleaning fees. I'm also
interested in hearing from experts. What are the best ways of
avoiding travel fees now? In a pandemic, do travelers have more
leverage to negotiate these fees off of their bills? What are
the most common mistakes travelers make when trying to get rid
of unwanted fees?
