We're currently working on a piece regarding Bitcoin Options.
They reached their all time high of Open Interest (OI) a day
before the huge monthly expiry event on 25th September. We're
looking to get insights on the following subjects:
1. Does this increasing Open Interest of BTC options build a
foundation for BTC options to play a larger role in the spot
market?
2. With 89,100 contracts expiring the previous Friday (25th),
shouldn't we expect a larger movement/variance of the price that
what we saw?
3. Is the BTC Options market not large enough to impact the BTC
price in the long term?
4. According to data from Skew, we see that after the all time
high of OI the OI saw a crash larger than that seen in previous
months, any particular reason for that?
5. There was a big ETH expiry on 25th as well, where we saw the
price vary more than the variance of BTC price, what could be
the reason that ETH options impact the ETH spot price more than
that of the BTC options in correlation with BTC price?
6. Any inputs on how maximum pain theory fares in these
scenarios?
7. Please feel free to add any additional details that you feel
