6) Summary: Travel career breaks and sabbaticals

Name: Alex Trembath Career Gappers

Category: Travel

Email: query-b6m8@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: Career Gappers

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 31 August

Query:

We are continuing our series of interviews with people who have
taken a career break or sabbatical to travel, and have an
inspiring story to tell about it.

Perhaps your time out travel inspired a new career direction, or
helped you to develop new skills which have been useful in your
profession.

We are also interested to feature stories of travel career
breaks or sabbaticals that have been interrupted by Covid-19,
and how you have adapted and used the time effectively.

Requirements:

You must have taken a travel career break or sabbatical at some
point in your life/career, it doesn't necessarily need to be
recent. We would prefer to avoid stories where travel has led to
you becoming a travel blogger or digital nomad as we have quite
a few of these already.

7) Summary: Companies and organisations that offer sabbatical leave

Name: Alex Trembath Career Gappers

Category: Travel

Email: query-b6mb@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: Career Gappers

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 31 August

Query:

We are launching a new series of interview features that will
aim to highlight the experiences of organisations/companies that
offer sabbatical leave or career break options as a benefit to
employees.

Mainly we would like to interview business leaders, managers,
CEOs, HR leaders etc, and we are particularly seeking success
stories, where a sabbatical policy has brought benefits to the
business. Although we want to tell positive stories, the
interviews will also explore the challenges that sabbatical
policies present to businesses, and how you have overcome them.

This new series will complement our existing corresponding
series, which has run for nearly two years and told the stories
of people who have taken sabbaticals / career breaks.

Requirements:

You must be a representative of an organisation or business that
has a sabbatical policy or has allowed employees to take career
breaks, for example to travel or study. In most cases we would
prefer to name the organisation in the interview feature, and so
we are mainly looking for people who are happy to be cited in an
interview as representing your company.

8) Summary: What To Do About Parking Tickets On Vacation

Name: Chris Elliott The Washington Post

Category: Travel

Email: query-b7fw@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: The Washington Post

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 2 September

Query:

I'm researching a story about people who got a parking ticket on
vacation this summer. Some municipalities have turned to parking
tickets to make up for revenue shortfalls. I'm interested in
hearing from anyone who received a parking ticket this summer,
perhaps while on vacation. What happened? Did you decide to pay
the fine or fight it? Do you think local governments are leaning
on visitors (and parking tickets) to make up for lost revenues?
From experts on parking fines and tickets, I would love to know
what travelers need to know about tickets. Are out-of-town
travelers more likely to be a target? How do they protect
themselves (other than parking legally, of course)?

Requirements:

Please read this before answering. I'd be very grateful if you
could send an initial response to my questions by email. Please
do not respond with a note that says you would like to be
considered for this story or want to set up a phone interview
with a source. I'm happy to consider you for this story. I've
included all of my questions in this query. Please take a minute
to briefly answer them. Kindly do not cut-and-paste answers from
previously published materials, such as press releases or blog
posts. If a phone interview is necessary, I will follow up right
away. Be sure to include your full name and a jargon-free, brief
(two to three word) description of your company or affiliation
as you would like it to appear in the article. I will do my
absolute best to acknowledge that I received your pitch and will
make every effort to let you know when the story appears. More

9) Summary: Why nearcations are the next vacation trend

Name: Chris Elliott Forbes

Category: Travel

Email: query-b7fx@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: Forbes

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 2 September

Query:

I'm working on a story about traveling close to home during the
upcoming holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's). I'd
love to hear from anyone who has booked a hotel or rental very
close to home. Where did you go and why did you decide to stay
in your neighborhood? What were the benefits and drawbacks? From
travel experts, I'd love to know why these types of
"nearcations" or "staycations" are so popular and how long this
trend will last.

Requirements:

Please read this before answering. I'd be very grateful if you
could send an initial response to my questions by email. Please

10) Summary: How "Instant Claims" Work In Travel Insurance

Name: Chris Elliott Forbes

Category: Travel

Email: query-b7fy@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: Forbes

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 2 September

Query:

I'm researching a story about "instant" claims on travel
insurance. Travel insurance companies have been trying to
process claims faster and faster. I'd like to hear from anyone
who has had a claim processed very quickly. What kind of claim
was it? Were you surprised by the processing time? Was it enough
to make you buy insurance from the same company again? From
travel insurance experts and insurance companies, I'd like to
know what's happening behind the scenes. Do "instant" claims
give insurance companies a competitive edge? How do you define
"fast" in travel insurance? Which travel insurance company
processes its claims the fastest?

Requirements:

Please read this before answering. I'd be very grateful if you
could send an initial response to my questions by email. Please
