Our Thought Leaders in E-commerce (TLEC) blog is a follow-up to
our highly successful Thought Leaders in Cloud Computing (TLCC)
(http://www.sramanamitra.com/big-data) series. In TLEC, we
interview thought leaders in the e-commerce sector -- whether
they are entrepreneurs building great companies, product/user
experience designers building great products, or executives at
large companies with unique perspectives on how the e-commerce
industry is evolving. We discuss trends, disruptions,
entrepreneurial opportunities, monetization models, challenges,
socio-cultural impact and much more in a seven-part series. We
also try to highlight for our audience gaps in the current value
chain where they may start a venture, from the unique vantage
point that CIOs and CTOs have. This is a wonderful opportunity
to add value to the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the world. This
blog is part of the One Million by One Million global
initiative, whose aim is to help a million entrepreneurs reach
$1 million in annual revenue (http://1mby1m.com). 1M/1M has
syndication relationships with many venues: HBR, Xconomy,
SmallBizTrends, EconomicTimes (India), Women 2.0, Mashable,
Huffington Post, Business Insider, ReadWriteWeb, and several
other sites. Articles we develop through these interviews often
get repackaged for the syndication partners. The 1Mby1M blog was
named by Forbes in the Top 100 Blog for Entrepreneurs

Please indicate in your pitch the revenue level, as we use this
as a qualification criterion for selecting entrepreneurs to
profile. We do not necessarily have to publish this number in
the actual story. Please also provide the story angle, talking

prepare for an online sales meeting? What's a must-do after an
online sales meeting that you don't necessarily do after meeting
in person? Beside the technical aspect, how are these sales
meetings different from a traditional ones? What it is
particularly important to do during an online sales meeting?
What's important to avoid? Do you use technology to set up more
online appointments? If yes, how?

12) Summary: Should new programmers learn COBOL -- and if so, how?

Name: Josh Fruhlinger InfoWorld

Category: High Tech

Email: query-b51r@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: InfoWorld

Deadline: 8:00 PM EST - 14 August

Query:

The trouble various state governments have had reprogramming
their unemployment systems revealed one of IT's dirty secrets:
there is still a lot of business-critical code running on COBOL
out there. While not a lot of new COBOL code is being written,
what applications are out there are probably lingering for
years, and the generation that learned COBOL in school or on the
job is rapidly retiring or passing on.

I'm looking for people who have had to deal with COBOL code in
their day-to-day work, or have worked on transition projects,
for their opinions on how we can keep necessary skills in the
pipeline. Should young programmers be learning COBOL -- and if
so, when and how? Is it a lanaguage that should be in everyone's
toolkit, or are specialized consultancies the answer?

Requirements:

I am not interested in people pushing particular products or
services, though if you work on a team or for a company that
focuses on COBOL in some way I would like talk to you about it
for sure.

3. How are companies using extranets in the workplace? (Can be
specific to an industry or line of business. Feel free to pull
from your own experience.)

Looking for responses to be at least 200 words. If we use your
input, we will notify you by email.
