Why aren't more homeowners pursuing a refi of their government
loans? This story will explore why government/low-doc/streamline
refinance loans aren't as popular as conventional refinances,
especially with rates so low. Note that I can only accept
full-sentence written responses (which I can use as quotes) for
this article. My deadline for written answers to these questions
is noon central, Thursday, Aug. 20.
QUESTIONS: 1. What is a streamline/low-doc refinance loan vs. a
conventional refinance loan? 2. Government loans appear more
popular than ever, but homeowners with government loans aren't
refinancing (e.g., June's Ellie Mae origination report shows FHA
loan activity was only 15% refi, 21% refi for VA, vs. 68% refi
activity for conventional loans). What factors are behind this
trend? Are they simply not aware of the streamline option? 3.
Briefly describe each type of streamline refi and its pros and
cons: (a) FHA streamline; (b) VA streamline; (c) USDA
streamline. 4. Has COVID-19 affected the streamline refi
process? Are there more hoops these borrowers have to jump
through now? 5. Please describe how a borrower with a government
loan can and should refinance that loan (step by step) and
