3) Summary: Is it safe to book a flight after October?

Name: Chris Elliott The Washington Post

Category: Travel

Email: query-b1rf@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: The Washington Post

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 23 July

Query:

Many U.S. airlines plan layoffs this October when the terms of
their federal bailouts allow them to begin downsizing. I'm
interested in hearing from consumers who are thinking of booking
an airline ticket after October. Are you concerned about your
flights? What assurances, if any, have you received from your
airline? And, are you holding off on booking a flight until you
get a clearer picture. From airline and travel experts, I'd love
to know what passengers should expect after October. What can
air travelers do now to protect their itineraries from possible
mass cancellations?

Requirements:

Please read this before answering. I'd be very grateful if you
could send an initial response to my questions by email. Please
do not respond with a note that says you would like to be
considered for this story or want to set up a phone interview
with a source. I'm happy to consider you for this story. I've
included all of my questions in this query. Please take a minute
to briefly answer them. If a phone interview is necessary, I
will follow up right away. Kindly also include your full name
and a jargon-free, brief (two to three word) description of your
company or affiliation as you would like it to appear in the
article. I will do my absolute best to acknowledge that I
received your pitch and will make every effort to let you know
when the story appears. More information on my queries can be

4) Summary: Travelers, beware of these pandemic fees

Name: Chris Elliott USA Today

Category: Travel

Email: query-b1rg@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: USA Today

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 23 July

Query:

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has had to pay a
travel fee related to the pandemic. Some tour operators and
travel agencies are charging hefty cancellation fees, for
example. Restaurants are adding "COVID fees" to cover the costs
of operating a restaurant during a pandemic. I'm interested in
your opinion. Are these fees justified? Or are they
opportunistic? Did you pay them, or refuse? From travel experts,
I'd like to know how widespread these fees are. Where are they
most prevalent? How do you avoid them?
