Name: Brian O'Connell SHRM.org

Category: Business and Finance

Media Outlet: SHRM.org

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 18 June

Query:

STORY THEME: With more and more U.S. states reopening after
months of COVID-related lockdowns, retailers and other high
volume sectors are beginning to open their doors and greet
customers again.

To make that experience a winning one for both parties,
retailers, sporting venues, entertainment companies, and other
industries may want to take a page out of Las Vegas casinos, who
are rewriting the management book as crowds roll into gambling
venues again (i.e., improve air quality, leveraging
sterilization technology, and the installation of plexiglass
barriers, among other features.)

In this story for SHRM, we're looking to study how casinos were
able to successfully open their gambling tables for customers
and what lessons other industries/companies can learn - good or
bad - from what casinos. -as they open for business.

Specifically, we want to know:

1. What lengths did casinos have to go to re-open, and what did
they do right and what did they do wrong?

2. What lessons can other industries, especially those with
heavy concentrations of people, learn from casinos in re-opening
from COVID-19 these days - lessons both good and bad? Need to be
specific with responses and outlooks. What did you like and
didn't like from casino re-opening strategies - and why?

3. Anything you would have done differently?

4. Anything the casinos did to re-open that seems out of sorts
now (i.e., like using sterilization tools and cleaner air) that
will become permanent now?

All comments welcome. The more specific, the better.

Thanks . . .

Query:

Our Thought Leaders in Internet of Things (TLIoT) blog is a
follow-up to our highly successful Thought Leaders in Cloud
Computing (TLCC) (http://www.sramanamitra.com/big-data) series.
I am looking for companies that have at least $5 million in
annual revenue. In TLIoT, we interview thought leaders in the
realms of the Internet of Things -- whether they are
entrepreneurs building great companies, product/user experience
designers building great products, or executives at large
companies with unique perspectives on how the e-commerce
industry is evolving. We discuss trends, disruptions,
entrepreneurial opportunities, monetization models, challenges,
socio-cultural impact and much more in a seven-part series. We
also try to highlight for our audience gaps in the current value
chain where they may start a venture, from the unique vantage
point that CIOs and CTOs have. This is a wonderful opportunity
to add value to the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the world. This
blog is part of the One Million by One Million global
initiative, whose aim is to help a million entrepreneurs reach
$1 million in annual revenue (http://1mby1m.com). 1M/1M has
syndication relationships with many venues: HBR, Xconomy,
SmallBizTrends, EconomicTimes (India), Women 2.0, Mashable,
Huffington Post, Business Insider, ReadWriteWeb, and several
other sites. Articles we develop through these interviews often
get repackaged for the syndication partners. The 1Mby1M blog was
named by Forbes in the Top 100 Blog for Entrepreneurs
(http://onforb.es/1a6RkOs) and among the top 100 influencers on
the topic of cloud computing. Sramana was also named one of the
top influencers of 2015 by LinkedIn (https://goo.gl/edehYR)

16) Summary: Entrepreneur Journeys (Virtual Companies in Technology / Technology-enabled Services)

Name: Sheldon Chi One Million by One Million

Category: Business and Finance

Email: query-awxj@helpareporter.net

Media Outlet: One Million by One Million

Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 18 June

Query:

For my Entrepreneur Journeys series, I'm looking for interesting
virtual companies in technology and technology-enabled services,
companies with at least $5 million in annual revenue. I'm
interested in interviewing the entrepreneur behind the company
who is willing to discuss the nuances of the strategy and
process of company building, spanning topics such as
bootstrapping, financing, positioning, customer acquisition,
channels, team building, etc. To pitch, provide revenue level,
industry and focus of the story angle in terms of
company-building experience. We use the revenue level as a
qualification criterion for selecting entrepreneurs to profile;
we don't necessarily have to publish this number in the actual
story. The Entrepreneur Journeys series has already produced 12
books (http://tinyurl.com/4p4phwy). See examples of the series
on my blog (http://tinyurl.com/d8m9mt). This blog is part of the
One Million by One Million global initiative, whose aim is to
help a million entrepreneurs reach $1 million in annual revenue.
We use the EJ interviews as case studies to teach other
entrepreneurs how to navigate the entrepreneurial waters. You
get publicity, as well as a platform to share your lessons from
the trenches with a large number of aspiring and practicing
entrepreneurs. 1M/1M has syndication relationships with many
venues: HBR, Xconomy, SmallBizTrends, EconomicTimes (India),
Women 2.0, Mashable, Huffington Post, Business Insider,
ReadWriteWeb, and several other sites. Articles often get
repackaged for the syndication partners. The 1Mby1M blog was
named by Forbes in the Top 100 Blog for Entrepreneurs
(http://onforb.es/1a6RkOs). I was also named as one of the top
10 LinkedIn influencers of 2015 (https://goo.gl/AN9TjS). The
procedure is to have a one-hour interview by phone or in-person
in my Menlo Park office. We publish a very long, detailed 5- to
10-part interview, so the discussion needs to be in-depth.
